Run-of-the-Mill Mitts

Run-of-the-Mill Mitts
These mitts are just a basic pattern for Aran weight yarn to make fingerless mitts. I have average/medium size woman's hands and these fit my hands very comfortably. The mittens are not identical and are indeed made to fit the placement of the thumb on each hand. I have made them with ribbing at the fingers and thumb and a smooth version too.

Yarn
: 1/2 skein of Sheep Shop Yarn Company - Sheep 1 Yarn

Needles: 1 pair of size 7 dpns

Guage: 4 sts/in. and 5.5 rows/in. stockinette stitch in the round

Left Mitt

CO 28 stitches using the knitting on method.

Join in the round and knit K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.
Then
Row 1: Knit all stitches (K all).
Row 2: K all.
Row 3: YO, K 28.
Row 4: K all.
Row 5: YO, K 29.
Row 6: K all.

Row 10: K all.
Row 11: YO, K32.
Row 12: K all.
Row 13: YO, K 33.
Row 14: K all - should have 34 stitches.
Row 15: Slip first 6 stitches onto a safety pin or scrap yarn. K remaining 28 stitches.
Rows 16 - 23: K all.

For ribbed top:
